I have experienced attitude, not proficiency or skill as one would normally assume, to be the primary driving force behind both success in business and in life. Too often do we fall into self-pity, loathing peers whom seemingly experience an endless amount of success and good fortune. Ironically, it is the very process of self-pity / self-loathing that brings about the negative environment we perceive ourselves to be in. I have experienced this process many times in the business environment as well. People who build on the strengths of others, who believe in abundance and works towards common goals often reach so much further than those who view life as a "single-winner" competition of sorts. Realistically speaking, the notion that "if you are not first you are last" only exists within the perception of people who compete in business, but lose out dearly in life.
